play golf in a shopping centre

Posted by jennyt2s on Wednesday Jan 13, 2010 under 12-18 years, 8-12 years, activity

Did you know that you can play mini golf in Cabot Circus? see this link.

I haven’t found out about Disability discounts yet (although I recommend asking wherever you go).

Opening Hours 9.30 am – 11.00pm, 7 days a week. This could be a good activity for cold evenings, or to combine with shopping or going out for coffee with your befriendee.

The people at Zambezi Express have offered our befriendees and befrienders a great deal for the show next week. You need certain items and more information to prove who you are, so please email Jenny to get this information (this entry is deliberately elusive!).

To find out more about the show see www.zambeziexpress.com/index.htm

bored and don’t know what to do?

Posted by jennyt2s on Tuesday May 26, 2009 under 0-8 years, 12-18 years, 8-12 years, Bristol Events, activity, ongoing

On this page we try to provide information so that befrienders and befriendees can find interesting things to do in Bristol. Another good website for finding lots of different ideas for things to do is: http://www.goplacesdothings.org.uk/events/. This is particularly good for befrienders who visit on a particular day of the week, because you can view all activities on a specific day.

Free Swimming for under 16s!

Posted by jennyt2s on Friday Mar 13, 2009 under 0-8 years, 12-18 years, 8-12 years, activity, free

Quoted from: here

“Who can access free swimming?

Anyone aged 60 and over – and those aged 16 or under (subject to normal admission policy for younger age groups) - can enjoy free swimming in Bristol’s pools during the published public swim sessions.

When does free swimming start?

The government’s free swimming scheme will commence in Bristol’s pools from April 1, 2009.

How do I get a free swim?

To take up the free swim offer you must have a valid “Everyone Active” card. The cards are free and are available from any of the centres operated on behalf of the council by SLM. Application forms for an “Everyone Active” card can be downloaded by visiting our “Free Everyone Active Card” web page. Alternatively you can pop in to your local pool or leisure centre and register for a card.

Tip: Please try and complete the application form beforehand and avoid busy times, so that we can process your card as quickly as possible.

Do I need to register?

We encourage you to apply now for your “Everyone Active” card, so that come April 1, 2009 you are able to make the most of this government-backed initiative.

To help process applications, SLM will have special help desks at the following sites:

  • Easton Leisure Centre
  • Henbury Leisure Centre
  • Horfield Leisure Centre

These will be available every Saturday from 12noon to 2pm starting Saturday, 31 January 2009 and finishing on Saturday, 28 March 2009 and will deal with “Everyone Active” card registration only.

Anyone wishing to register for a card must bring ID (for example birth certificate, passport, etc).

Which pools can I use?

  • Bishopsworth Pool
  • Bristol South Pool
  • Easton Leisure Centre
  • Henbury Leisure Centre
  • Horfield Leisure Centre
  • Jubilee Pool”

Although Time2Share doesn’t have any religious affiliations, we thought you might be interested to hear about this inclusive Sunday School (for those of you who would like your children to access a Sunday School).

“The Incredibles” is a Sunday School for special needs children, their siblings and friends. Their website is www.theincredibles.org.uk and it is run by Tim and Terina who are parents of two sons with disabilities. It meets at Hop Skip and Jump on Sundays 10:30 to 12:30 and the parents stay and chat over coffee whilst The Incredibles is going on. This Sunday they are launching The Incredibles Support Group which will enable parents to share their own experiences and hear how other parents have overcome similar life issues. Some of the parents as well as having their own children with special needs, work at Warmley Park School so therefore have a vast experience of working with many different special needs.

The age of the children ranges from babies to 16yr, however the upper age is flexible for children with special needs. There is no fee or waiting list. Families are welcome to come and join. They are also planning to have a youth group for children 10-16 in place by the time our next newsletter goes out. This will be fortnightly basis on  Saturdays at Hop Skip and Jump running from 5:30 – 7.00pm.
